The Matraville Veterinary Practice Team is proud to announce their new partnership with Meals On Wheels Randwick, located at 523 Bunnerong Rd Matraville, one of 150 Meals on Wheels NSW branches across the state.
Meals on Wheels NSW is a registered charity with over 35,000 volunteers who deliver around 4.5 million meals to clients each year. Meals on Wheels Randwick has been operating since 1960 and their team of 35 volunteers service the South East Sydney area. At any given time, they provide meals to 250 clients per week therefore their volunteers are kept very busy!
Why did we choose Meals On Wheels?
Local Business for Local Charities
Partnering with Meals On Wheels Randwick plays right into our Ethos (local business for local charities). The beneficiaries of Meals on Wheels are the local elderly who over their lifetime would have supported the welfare of animals and now our relationship with Meals On Wheels Randwick (who happen to located right next door to us) couldn’t be any more local!
Through the support of Matraville Veterinary Practice and our clients, we believe we now have the ideal platform to raise much needed funds and awareness to support the services of Meals On Wheels Randwick, creating a full circle of care for our community and pets.
We will be asking every client upon invoicing to consider adding a donation of $1 to their invoice, which we will then, in turn, match. Effectively, $2 per invoice will be donated to Meals On Wheels Randwick. The total donations for each month will be reported and published on our website www.matravilleveterinarypractice.com.au
Local Businesses for Local Charities. We would love to see other local businesses on Bunnerong Road, Matraville get behind Meals On Wheels Randwick as well. We will be speaking with local businesses in due course to seek their support for our vision.
If you’re a local business owner reading this and wish to support and be part of our vision, please email us at email@example.com
Meals On Wheels provides a nutritionally balanced meal to aged people, people with a disability, and their carers.
Meals On Wheels enables people to be independent in their own homes for longer. Most people prefer to live at home, but in many cases they need support to do this. Without Community Services such as Meals on Wheels, clients are at risk of premature admission to aged care. Meals on Wheels seek to actively educate their clients and reduce the high risk of malnutrition in older people. Improving nutrition reduces falls and other associated health risks in older people.
Often a Meals on Wheels meal is the highest source of nutritional content for a client who would otherwise exist on tea and toast. Meals on Wheels volunteers are often the only daily point of contact for recipients, serving to decrease their social isolation and assist in monitoring their health and wellbeing.
At Matraville Veterinary Practice, we understand how important it is for people to have that daily contact, good nutrition and companionship. We also know how incredibly supportive the volunteers are to the lives of the elderly and vulnerable in our local community.
It is our commitment to Meals On Wheels Randwick to further enhance their services and offering for the benefit of our local community.
